W. Kim Furman, MD

General Orthopedics & Pain Management located in Sarasota, Venice and Lakewood Ranch, FL

Dr. Furman earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology at Northeastern University in Boston. He then attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York for his medical degree. He completed his surgical internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by an orthopedic residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He worked with Dr. Carl Bassett on orthopedic research at Columbia University before completing a fellowship in total joint replacement with Dr. Gerard Engh at the Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute in Virginia.

Dr. Furman has been with our group for over 34 years. During that time he served locally as Chief of Orthopedics at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Doctors Hospital, and Orthopedic Director for Health South (now Encompass) Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Furman is widely published in orthopedic medical journals and is a consultant to the orthopedic industry. He has traveled internationally to lecture and instruct on joint replacement surgery.  He is a strong advocate for community education and his main focus is on arthritis.
