William Mahoney, MD

William A Mahoney, MD, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon and hip and knee reconstruction specialist at 360 Orthopedics in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. He specializes in general orthopedics and joint replacement.

Dr Mahoney earned his Bachelor of Science in food and resource economics at the University of Florida. He then attended medical school at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Banner Health University of Arizona Medical Center followed by an Adult Joint Reconstruction fellowship at the Carilion Clinic.

Dr Mahoney favors a patient-centered approach where shared decision making allows patients to play an active role in their treatment. He utilizes many nonsurgical treatments in addition to surgery, when necessary, always with a focus on improving patients’ quality of life. He is trained in advanced techniques including the direct anterior approach for hip replacement, partial knee replacement, revision joint replacements and fracture care.

Dr Mahoney grew up in Sarasota and is excited to return with his wife and daughter. He enjoys fishing, waterskiing, and spending time with family.
